ABOUT THE ARTIST

WHERE A LOVE OF ANIMALS AND A LOVE OF WOOD UNITE IN ARTISTIC EXPRESSION

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME AND LAZY DOG !

My name is Carol and I am originally from Wisconsin (yes, I say it funny).

I was the seventh of nine children, raised in a very small farming town just

north of Madison.  We lived in a four bedroom house with one bathroom.

I remember the winters being cold and snowy and the summers being hot

and humid.  I decided to move to North Carolina, where I spent six months

living very near the beach.  I do love it at the beach.  It was beautiful, but

there was that hot and humid thing going on, so  I moved to dry Colorado

and stayed for three years.  I really enjoyed the daily sunshine, but still

there were the cold and snowy winters.  I found my way to Oregon in

2006 and I now make my home here in West Linn, where it is not too

hot and humid, not too far from the beach, and rarely do I see snow at

my house.  I think I’ve found my home!

I discovered pyrography in my teens and have been creating pieces since

1975. Lazy Dog was born in 1998, combining two of my favorite things,

Animals and Wood.  It began as a family operation with my two biggest

inspirations right by my side, the wonderful Ms Sophie and My Molly, two

incredibly loving, loyal, feisty and lazy miniature schnauzers.  Ms Sophie

lived to 14 years and My Molly died in May 2007.  She was almost 16.

I miss them dearly.  I was so fortunate to have them in my life for such

a long time.  Now I live with two wonderful cats, Cocoa, an older female,

and Blackie, a male cat several years younger. They are a joy to share

life with and are a great comfort to me, especially since Molly died.

I love being able to spend my days doing what I really enjoy.

Life really is good!

PYROGRAPHY

by definition

is the art or process of producing a design,

as on wood or leather, by a red hot point or fine flame.
